BELPHARITIS What is blepharitis? Blepharitis is an inflammation of the eyelid. It is associated with
dandruff and some skin conditions, and it can be very persistent
and recurrent. What are the symptoms? The margins of the lid become red and sore and small particles of dandruff may be seen at the base of the eyelashes. Constant rubbing may lead to watering and further irritation. How can you treat blepharitis? It is advisable to seek the advice of your GP, since a local anti-biotic ointment may be prescribed which should clear the condition up. It may also help to bathe your eyelids with diluted baby shampoo to relieve irritation. - Information provided by the American Optometric Association -
